FAQ
How do I know it's time to replace instead of repair?
A useful rule of thumb: multiply the repair cost by the system's age in years — if that exceeds replacement cost, replacement deserves a real look. We'll show you the honest math either way; our techs don't earn more by steering you toward the bigger job.
Should I consider a heat pump instead of a new AC?
In Orange County's climate, often yes — one heat pump replaces both your AC and furnace, and that's where the rebate money is. We'll compare both paths honestly for your home. See our gas-to-electric guide for the full picture.
Will you reuse my existing ductwork?
Only if it deserves reusing. A new system pushing air through leaky or undersized ducts can't deliver its rated performance, so ductwork gets evaluated in every quote — sometimes it's fine, sometimes sealing or replacement genuinely belongs in the project. Either way you'll know why.
Replacement decided by math, not by the salesperson's mortgage
The replacement conversation is where commissioned HVAC turns predatory, so ours runs on evidence: the repair-vs-replace math shown plainly (repair cost times system age against replacement cost), a real Manual J load calculation instead of copying the old unit's tonnage, and a duct evaluation — because a new system breathing through failing ducts is a new invoice, not a new experience. We'll quote across equipment tiers honestly, including when the mid-tier unit installed carefully beats the premium badge installed carelessly, and we'll raise the heat pump comparison whenever the rebate math makes it worth your attention. If your system genuinely has years left, we'll say that too. The quote holds for the scope quoted, and nobody here earns extra for talking you into more.
